OnePlus Open 2 may arrive later than previously rumored

A few days ago a rumor from China claimed that the Oppo Find N5 would be launched there before the end of March. This device will most likely be sold internationally under the OnePlus Open 2 name as last year’s original OnePlus Open was a rebranded Oppo Find N3 (Oppo is skipping the “4” due to tetraphobia).

We noted at the time that it wasn’t clear how long after the N5’s launch Open 2 would follow, and today a tipster on X sheds some light on just that fact – and it’s not great news.

As you can see, OnePlus Open 2 is said to arrive internationally only in the second half of 2025, so July at the earliest. Since it is said to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, this launch timeline would mean that it will only be on the market for a few months (or even less) before the next flagship Snapdragon chip is announced, presumably in October.

So, with its likely flagship price, the Open 2 will only have the current flagship chip for a short time, which is, to put it mildly, far from ideal. On the other hand, these are only unconfirmed rumors, so perhaps things will turn out differently. We’ll have to wait and see.
